October 2026: Vincent Clark joined our lab as a Postdoctoral Fellow, and will be working integration of electrochemical readouts into microfluidics chips for automated sensing as well as ultrasensitivity for therapeutic drug monitoring. Rory Clare also joined as a Bioengineering PhD student co-advised by Barry Lutz, and will be working on HIV therapeutic drug monitoring from alternative sample types. Welcome, Vincent & Rory!
September 2026: Willow Chernoske presented their work on Accessible Medication Monitoring for Cytomegalovirus (CMV) Care at the ITHS 3-minute thesis competition in Bozeman, Montana and was selected as one of the winners! They will now get the opportunity to share this work at the ACTS Translational Science Conference in Washington, DC next year. Congratulations and way to go, Willow!
September 2026: Aileen Sun passed her PhD General Exam titled “Towards Long-Term, Self-Sustaining Hydration of Engineered Living Materials with Autonomous Microfluidics” and is now a PhD Candidate in Bioengineering! We are so proud of you, Aileen! Congratulations!
September 2026: Caitlin Anderson, Dorothy (Dot) Mims, and Kelsey Leong shared the lab’s work on HIV therapeutic drug monitoring, drug resistance testing, and at-home plasma separation at the **1st African Forum: Diagnostics at the Frontline** pre-conference to the HIV, Infectious Diseases, and Global Health Science of Implementation Conference (VISTA) in Cape Town, South Africa. After the conference, the team traveled to clinical and research sites in Cape Town, Durban, and Johannesburg to learn more about implementation of our work to help increase the accessibility of tools for monitoring HIV prevention and treatment.
